The Polonsky Foundation-NYU Digital Humanities Internship Program competition is closed. The deadline to apply was February 3, 2020.
Program Overview
Through the generous support of the Polonsky Foundation, NYU’s Graduate School of Arts and Science has established an internship program to provide graduate students with diverse scholarly and professional interests with foundational knowledge and skills in the field of digital humanities.
Interns will have an immersive experience in professional project development in an area of the digital humanities that is of interest to them, ranging from data design and archival preservation to digital publication and public humanities. Interns will be matched with projects at NYU or an external internship site that are relevant to their areas of scholarly and professional interest. If the applicant wishes to pursue a specific internship site and/or project, that should be specified in the proposal. Doctoral students are encouraged to explain the relation of the project proposed to their dissertation research. All students are asked to provide a preliminary discussion of which digital tools and methods they hope to learn.
Interns will receive a taxable honorarium of $5,000 for participating in the program, and will be expected to dedicate approximately 300 hours for the internship during the summer months of 2020. Interns must also commit to attending regular digital humanities project development workshops on campus during the summer of 2020 as part of their total hours. Internship projects will receive dedicated support in using digital humanities methods and tools, as well as on-going project management support by NYU faculty and the Digital Scholarship Services at NYU Libraries. Master's and doctoral students enrolled in GSAS, who will have completed 16 credits by June 1, 2020, are eligible to apply (including ISAW, IFA, Cinema Studies, and Performance Studies). Advanced Certificate students are not eligible. Interns must remain matriculated in their graduate programs for the duration of the internship. Application Deadline: Monday, February 3, 2020.

Complete applications should total no more than 1000 words (excluding CV, recommendation, and transcript) and include in this order:
Biographical statement of applicant’s areas of scholarly and professional interests in the digital humanities, including relevant experience
Brief description of learning goals and objectives for internship
Digital tools, methods, and competencies the applicant wishes to develop
A list of relevant courses taken to date including a list of GSAS or other graduate courses taken that focus on technology (such as those given in the DHSS program at NYU) or related digital humanities content
Summary of the applicant's experience and proficiency with digital tools, methods, and competencies to date
