Application Deadline: Wednesday, October 27, 2021.
This program supports student study and research in Germany. Research grants and scholarships are available at the Ph.D., Master’s and Undergraduate levels. In addition to these opportunities, DAAD also offers other long and short-term grants in the areas of the arts, science and engineering, language study, and journalism. Students interested in these additional opportunities should send their applications directly to DAAD, as they do not fall within the NYU campus submission process. The NYU campus process only pertains to applicants for the Study Scholarships or Long-term Research Grants. Short-term research grant applicants should apply directly to the DAAD New York Office. For more information, please visit the DAAD website.
Submission Instructions and Deadline
Applicants must register with the Online Application Portal prior to completing an application. Once registered, applicants will log onto the Application Portal where they download an electronic application form and complete it. Applicants should have all the additional necessary documents ready when they upload their completed application form. The Online Application Portal allows applicants to check the status of their application. Once an application has been submitted, a notification and a summary of the application in PDF format will be sent to the portal.
Reference writers must fill out the reference form available on the DAAD portal. They must then email their signed letter (on letterhead - e-signatures OK) to email@example.com by the final campus deadline on Wednesday, October 27.
Please note: GSAS administers the application process for the Study Scholarship (open to students in their final year of undergraduate study or currently in a Master's program)
and the Research Grant (open to students at both the Master's and Doctoral level).
NYU will have two internal deadlines:
The first NYU internal deadline will be for students who would like to receive feedback on their application. After feedback is issued, these students will be able to revise their application before submitting. In order to receive feedback, students must email their application materials to firstname.lastname@example.org with the subject line DAAD Application_Last Name by the first deadline. PLEASE DO NOT SUBMIT YOUR APPLICATION THROUGH THE DAAD PORTAL. You will not be able to access it again. Instead, compile your required materials into one PDF document and email them to us for internal review.
The first NYU internal review deadline is Wednesday, October 13.
The second and final NYU deadline will be for students who do not wish to receive feedback on their application. Please submit your required documents into the DAAD application portal. Once you complete this step, please email email@example.com a copy of the DAAD portal-generated application summary. Reference letters must be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org by your letter writer.
The second and final NYU deadline is Wednesday, October 27.
Note: If you are unable to submit the application by the NYU deadline, you are able to submit your full application directly to the DAAD New York Office.
