About
The Sulo Research and Travel Fellowship for Graduate Students is part of a three-year Philippine Studies Initiative at NYU funded with support from the Philippine Department of Foreign Affairs and Congressional Representative Loren Legarda and distributed through the office of the Dean of Humanities. The Fellowship is open to all graduate students at NYU and is designed to help students defray expenses associated with research or travel related to the study of the Philippines and/or its global diaspora. Applications will be reviewed by the Sulo: Philippine Studies Initiative steering committee and awards will be granted up to $3,000/year, and may be awarded to one or more applicants.
Eligibility
The fellowship is open to all graduate students at NYU pursuing a Master’s or Doctoral degree. Students graduating in May 2022 are not eligible to participate. Previous recipients are encouraged to apply again, though preference will be given to first-time applicants. The steering committee will be evaluating applicants based on the quality of their proposal and its potential promise for impact in the field(s) of Philippine and/or Philippine Diaspora Studies and the related disciplines of the applicant, which may include but are not limited to the arts, humanities, social sciences, and public health.
