How to Register for the GSAS Master's Convocation
1.) You must receive an invitation to register. Convocation invitations are sent by e-mail to all eligible degree recipients and candidates during the first week in March.
If you have not received your invitation by Friday, March 6, you should:
- Check your spam folder.
- Verify that you applied for graduation through Albert by the February 2 deadline.
- Log into Albert, the student information system, to verify your contact information.
- Contact the GSAS Office of Academic and Student Affairs at email@example.com to request that an invitation be re-sent to your correct email.
2.) You must register for tickets. Follow the directions in your email invitation. Registration to participate and request guest tickets ends on Friday, April 17, 2020.
Dean’s Exception Policy for Participation
Those departments who have historically been granted exceptions due to having one year programs will continue to receive those exceptions. Master's candidates in all other programs will only be granted exceptions if the student has no more than two courses remaining to take over the summer term, they are enrolled in those courses, and they have registered on Albert to graduate in September 2020.
Please note that all students who complete their degrees beyond the eligibility dates for this year's Convocation and do not receive exeptions will be eligible to participate in next year's ceremony.
Dean's Exception Process
Students will no longer have to present a letter from the Dean’s Office. Going forward, students being granted an exception will be added to a student group in Albert. To be added to the student group, graduate administrators must email Assistant Dean for Academic Affairs Allan Corns directly with the student’s name, University ID (N#), and an explanation about why the student should be granted an exception by Friday, April 17, 2020.
1) If master's candidates are granted an exception, they will be invited to participate in the GSAS Master's Convocation ceremony by the Office of Academic and Student Affairs via email.
2) If an exception is granted, candidates must register for the ceremony by the April 19 registration deadline.
Note: This ticket registration policy only applies to the GSAS Master's Convocation. For the All-University Commencement ticket registration policy, visit the Commencement website.
