At the Graduate School of Arts and Science, inclusion, diversity, equity, accessibility, and leadership are at the core of our community. We believe that an environment that embraces a broad spectrum of identities, viewpoints, and lived experiences is integral to our success, and we aim to ensure that our community of students, alumni, faculty, and staff thrive by upholding this belief. We are dedicated to fostering a welcoming culture of belonging that supports our diverse student body.
The Graduate School of Arts and Science plans to continue providing existing resources and programming dedicated to fostering academic success for diverse communities, such as Pathways to the Ph.D., Women in Academia, First-Gen Graduate Connections, and collaborations with varying resource centers at NYU. In addition to these, GSAS IDEAL assesses existing programming and conducts need analyses, with the aim of improving our efforts in the following areas: Community and Belonging; Mentoring and Professional Development; and Pedagogy and Teaching. Our goal is to implement structurally sound, sustainable practices across the focus areas, to ensure a lasting positive impact on the GSAS community.
