GSAS, in collaboration with Bobst Library, offers a series of writing workshops for advanced Ph.D. candidates across all academic departments and programs.
The Intensive Dissertation Writing Workshop is a two-week program that takes place during the January Term and the summer sessions. These workshops offers structured writing time each day, beginning promptly at 9:00 a.m. and concluding by 1:00 p.m.
All Dissertation Writing workshops are intended to provide participants with physical writing space, experts on call, and a community of like-minded peers so that they can make substantial progress on dissertation writing. Admission is by application. Preference will be given to advanced doctoral candidates, particularly those planning to defend the dissertation in or prior to the 2019-2020 academic year. Students are permitted to attend one intensive and one semester workshop.
Participants will have an assigned writing space (power connections, wireless access, and basic office supplies) for writing during each of the workshops. Participants will need to bring their own laptops.
Most of the time in the workshops will be devoted to writing. A faculty convener will be present for individual and group consultation.
