Every semester, the Graduate School of Arts and Science in collaboration with the Grad Team at the Wasserman Center for Career Development hosts worshops unique to the job search strategies for doctoral students. Examples of previous offerings include:
- Industry Job Search for Doctoral Students
- This workshop is dedicated to the professional world beyond academia, addressing non-academic cover letters, resumes, the job search, interviewing, and networking. Past speakers have included NYU PhD graduates that have pursued careers at executive search firms, management consulting firms, museums, and scientific communications and technology companies, and in higher education administration.
- Faculty Job Search for Doctoral Students
- The workshop covering the academic job search brings in established academics at community colleges, private high schools, and R1 universities to discuss the academic CV, the teaching portfolio, the research statement, and the academic cover letter, among other aspects of job search preparation and the hiring process.
