What is the research you are conducting?
My research documents interspeaker variation in the Chanka Quechua language, spoken in the Peruvian Andes. The current study specifically involves analyzing the speech in casual interviews that I recorded with native Chanka speakers from a range of ages and both sexes, in rural and urban settings. For this I am adapting Western-centric sociolinguistic ethnography techniques to an indigenous and minority language context, as well as training local speakers to research on their own language.
