The Academic Policies and Procedures for the Graduate School of Arts and Science are developed by the Graduate Curriculum Committee and voted upon by the Faculty of Arts and Science. They are intended as a guide for masters and doctoral students during their graduate career and students should become familiar with them at the beginning of their program of study and consult them as needed through the course of their program.

The Policies and Prodedures are administered by Directors of Graduate Study and by the Office of the Vice Dean, located at 6 Washington Square North, 2nd Floor. Requests for exceptions are handled by petition to the Vice Dean by the graduate program Directors of Graduate Studies on behalf of the student.
