Student Life
A supportive, dynamic environment
GSAS's long-term commitment to students begins with their acceptance
into one of our graduate programs. The Office of Academic and Student
Life plays a central role in coordinating the services and support
graduate students may need. Services include internal and external
funding opportunities, dissertation support, and graduate student educational development. The office is also the liaison for counseling, issues of concern to students of color, international student services, academic computing and technology issues, healthcare and insurance, and career development.
The Office of Academic and Student Life also works to fulfill
GSAS's commitment to diversity by administering programs such as the Leadership Alliance and early identification programs that help to identify and retain qualified students of color.
The office is a source of information and support for GSAS
dissertations through the publication of formatting, checklists, and
guidelines, and is responsible for the final deposit of dissertations.
Other publications include On the Square, a bimonthly update of GSAS news and events, Bobst and Beyond: A Guide to Graduate Research in New York City, and, with the Vice Dean's Office, the GSAS Student Handbook.
