Returning to Work After Raising Your Children: Are You Ready? Monday, November 9 The NYU School of Law Office of Career Services, the Women's Initiative and the Wasserman Center for Career Development invite you to a workshop with Julie Shifman, NYU Alumna, and President of Act Three: “Returning to Work After Raising Your Children: Are You Ready?” Going back to work after being out of the workforce for a number of years can feel daunting. Have you been considering going back to work but are wondering if you are really prepared to do so? Do you just feel unsure of what next steps you need to take? You are invited to join Julie as she addresses issues relating to assessing your readiness, discovering who you are today, and the nuts and bolts of getting back to work.
This event will take place on Monday, November 9 from 10:30 AM – Noon at the NYU Wasserman Center for Career Development at 133 East 13th Street, 2nd Floor, Presentation Room A. This workshop is free, and space is limited and only available for NYU alumni.

“Bellevue: A Look Back at America’s Most Influential Public Hospital” Tuesday, November 10 Pulitzer-Prize-winning historian David Oshinsky will deliver “Bellevue: A Look Back at America’s Most Influential Public Hospital” on November 10 at 5:00 PM at Hemmerdinger Hall (100 Washington Square East at Washington Place).
This lecture, sponsored by NYU and The Jacob K. Javits Foundation, is free and open to the public, but space is limited and RSVP is required.
Oshinsky, The Jacob K. Javits Visiting Professor at New York University and a professor of history at the University of Texas at Austin, is a specialist in 20th century U.S. political and cultural history. His most recent book, Polio: An American Story, was awarded the 2006 Pulitzer Prize for History.
Annual Frumkes Lecture “Causation: What Can Be the Use of It?” Monday, November 16 Nancy Cartwright, a professor of philosophy at the London School of Economics, will deliver New York University’s Annual Lewis Burke Frumkes Lecture on Monday, November 16, 7:30 p.m. at Hemmerdinger Hall in the Silver Center (100 Washington Square East at Washington Place). Cartwright’s lecture is titled “Causation: What Can Be the Use of It?”
The lecture is hosted by the Graduate School of Arts and Science and the Department of Philosophy. The event is free and open to the public, which may call 212-998-8320 for more information.
Creative Writing Fall 2009 Reading Series The New York University Creative Writing Program Fall 2009 Reading Series continues with a number of special readings and events, including an event featuring Washington Square College alumnus and former US Poet Laureate Charles Simic on September 10. Most events are held in the program's Greenwich Village home, the Lillian Vernon Creative Writers House, located at 58 West Tenth Street, unless otherwise noted. Grey Art Gallery The Grey Art Gallery is New York University's fine arts museum, located on historic Washington Square Park in New York City's Greenwich Village. As a university art museum, the Grey Art Gallery functions to collect, preserve, study, document, interpret, and exhibit the evidence of human culture.
