The annual Weiner lecture series, which brings a distinguished anthropologist to NYU to lecture each year, was established in memory of Annette B. Weiner, who was the Kriser Distinguished Professor of Anthropology at NYU from 1981 until her death in 1997. Professor Weiner also chaired the Anthropology Department for many years, and served as the Dean of the Graduate School of Arts and Science at NYU.
