Congratulations on your admission to the Graduate School of Arts and Science (GSAS) at New York University.

This Living in NYC information is being provided so that you can begin to arrange for your accommodations by the start of classes. New York City is a dynamic and exciting place in which to live and go to school. However, we know it can be daunting to think about finding a place to live here. This information is intended to help you with your search.

General information about housing can be found on the NYU housing web page. The majority of GSAS students live off campus. The NYU Off-Campus Housing Office is an excellent resource when looking for an apartment. They help students navigate the market by providing resources and guidance about the process of renting an apartment.

NYU graduate housing itself is very limited and available on a waitlist basis only. When selecting students from the waitlist, the Graduate School gives priority to international students and to students who have a permanent United States address that is more than 35 miles from NYU.

To apply for housing through the waitlist:
•    complete the online application form via https://home.nyu.edu/
•    scroll to the bottom of the page and click on “housing forms”
•    on the “current available forms” page –click on Fall 2009 GRADUATE waitlist application

Please note that the waitlist application will not be available on the web until the first week of May. If you are interested in being placed on the waitlist, you will be required to pay a $100 non-refundable application fee. If you are assigned housing, you will be notified by email during the first week of August (although it is possible the decision will be made even later).

To gain access to the off-campus housing listings and the waitlist application you will need to have a NetID and your University ID number. Your University ID number was assigned at the time of application and, for your convenience, it is printed at the bottom of your letter of admission.
