Currently matriculated NYU graduate and professional students are required:
(1) To apply through the online system accessible through www.fulbrightonline.org. In addition, NYU candidates must print out a final and complete copy of the application and submit in paper form (with supporting documents such as transcript(s), letters of reference and, where appropriate, of affiliation) for institutional review. The university deadline applies to the submission both of the online and paper versions of the application.
Paper versions of all materials, including complete applications and all letters of reference and affiliation, transcript(s), and language proficiency evaluation(s) should be submitted no later than 5:00PM EST on Wednesday, September 19, 2007 to:
GSAS Office of Academic and Student Life (OASL)
(2) To participate in the university's institutional review and evaluation process of graduate and professional students’ Fulbright applications (early October) prior to the university's submission of applications to the IIE Fulbright Program Office. Each applicant schedules a required interview with the NYU Campus Evaluation Committee, composed of faculty and program directors from various schools in the University, when submitting the final and completed application to OASL.
NYU Campus Evaluation Committee Interview Days for all institutional candidates: October 4, 5, 8, and 9
Special accommodations will be made for students who are not planning to be in residence at Washington Square during the interview period.
Students should check in advance with OASL by calling (212) 998-8060 regarding the need for submission of supplemental materials as requirements vary by country.
Special Note for NYU Undergraduates
Current undergraduate students and recent alumni and alumnae of undergraduate programs are advised and reviewed through a parallel process administered through the university’s National Scholarship Program office. This office coordinated the all-University review process for nationally competitive scholarships and fellowships (e.g., Rhodes, Marshall, and Fulbright). Students and alumni should contact Associate Dean Richard Kalb or Dr. Kim Germain, Director of the national Scholarship Office, by April 1 (or as soon thereafter as possible) for further details. They may be reached at (212) 998-8140 or richard.kalb@nyu.edu or kim.germain@nyu.edu.
Special Note for Recent Alumni and Alumnae of Graduate and Professional Programs
The IIE Fulbright Program gives discretion to individual university Fulbright Program Advisors (FPAs) to include alumni in their institutional review processes. NYU is pleased to welcome recent alumni (typically, those who have had degrees conferred within the 18 months preceding the fall Fulbright application deadline) to participate in the process of advisement, evaluation and institutional submission described here.
Recent alumni and alumnae are not required to participate in this institutional review process. They may also elect to apply as at-large candidates through the general IIE application procedure outlined at www.fulbrightonline.org.
Alumni and alumnae who had their NYU degrees conferred more than 18 months ago should consult with the NYU Fulbright Program Advisor (FPA) about the possible disadvantages of being an institutional candidate so long after the end of the individual academic experience.
