2. Vote in Your Department or Program
- Gain departmental support for changes to be enacted.
3. Write a Proposal
- start with a brief narrative statement of this shift and its academic rationale; list the full current program curriculum; the full revised curriculum; the rationale for each change; bulletin-style descriptions of each required course in the new program; and a syllabus along with basic credentials of any instructor for any new course.
Approval is then needed at the GSAS level from:
4. The Graduate Curriculum Committee (GSAS)
- the dedicated interdisciplinary curricular review body.
Approval is then needed at the FAS level from:
5. An FAS Faculty Meeting Vote
- for discussion among your faculty peers from across the arts and sciences.
6. The Office of Academic Program Review and Assessment (Office of the Provost)
- where the staff there will work with you to ensure compliance with New York State Education Department standards.
7. Certification by the New York State Education Department (NYSED)
- May be required in some circumstances.
Upon state approval, generally in 6-8 weeks, you may advertise the revised program. Please plan for changes not being made official for 6 months to 1 year from the start of this process.
